This case study is a follow up of Working Paper 8 “Addressing Barriers to University Research” and also a series of Diagnostic Study on Barriers to University Research”. Identification of barriers to university research has given an insight in understanding the dynamics of research and in identifying the barriers to research in universities in Indonesia especially in University of Indonesia (UI), to upgrade the quality and capacity of university research.
The two overarching challenges that state universities face today concern research and development, which are two of the three pillars of university’s triple roles or the Tri Dharma. The first challenge is about competition and research collaboration to produce scientific publications; the second is the benefits and value of those research products and publications
This report seeks to inspire other university in developping university research. Some findings in this report can inform the Government’s policy making on advancing research in Indonesia and for the universities to create a better environment for research development.
