There are a portion of the public that requires additional consideration that will enable them to experience the world in a similar manner. The common practice when preparing events or communication materials is to cater to the general public, unaware of the needs of the minorities. Unconscious of these trends, it is important to start determining the factors that support the inclusivity of every single participant and audience.

There has seen several important developments in Indonesia’s knowledge sector in 2018. A number of these developments are the result of the on-going work and leadership of Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) partners as Indonesian knowledge sector actors.

This study was conducted in November-December 2016 that was designed to understand and gather insights from university academics and support staff on their perceptions and experiences of the culture of research at universities in Indonesia. This study was supported by the Government of Australia through the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI).

Local Knowledge Matters discusses the critical role that local knowledge plays in public policy processes as well as its role in the co-production of policy relevant knowledge with the scientific and professional communities. The authors consider the mechanisms used by local organisations and the constraints and opportunities they face, exploring what the knowledge-to-policy process means, who is involved and how different communities can engage in the policy process.

This paper aimed to explore what specific factors and actors shape the policy process?

The paper presents a framework for a learning-oriented approach to causality that focuses on understanding the mechanisms that were successful, with whom and in what context so that the policy maker can determine where else the intervention might work or what other mechanisms or adaptations might be necessary in the new setting.

Development planning systems in Indonesia observe various laws and implementing regulations that cover the end-to-end process of planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation.

The aim of the paper is to provide a more informed understanding of how policymaking works in practice in Indonesia, and to explore the relevance of the policy cycle model in this context.

Indonesia Development Forum 2017 Fighting Inequality for Better Growth Jakarta, 9-10 Agustus 2017

This synthesis report draws on 67 cases of change representing experiences of 29 Indonesian organisations to answer two overarching questions. First, what notable changes took place in the knowledge sector in Indonesia from 2013-2016, as identified by individuals and organisations directly involved in the knowledge sector. Second, what factors are perceived to be associated with these changes, including but not limited to the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI).

White Paper: Science, Technology and Higher Education Towards Indonesia 2045 serves as input to the government in support of the preparation of the National Research Master Plan (RIRN) 2015-2019 and the following decades to 2045. This Draft National Research Master Plan is currently being finalized by the Ministry of Ristekdikti. KSI fully supports the development and publication of this white paper.

Pada akhir bulan Juli 2016, KSI merilis "Call for Stories of Change" atau "Yuk, Mari Menulis Cerita Perubahan", sebuah inisiasi untuk mendorong mitra-mitranya untuk menuliskan cerita tentang bagaimana organisasi mereka, upaya mereka atau dampak yang telah terjadi mengalami perubahan selama tahap pertama program KSI. Pendekatan ini telah berhasil digunakan secara luas pada projek yang lain dan kami harap hal ini dapat memberikan gambaran dan membantu pemahaman yang lebih mendalam bagaimana sektor pengetahuan mengalami perubahan dan kontribusi KSI dalam menciptakan perubahan tersebut.

How to assess the return of investment of a research and policy engagement project? The Indonesian think tank SurveyMETER and the Knowledge Sector Initiative have tested an approach with a research project undertaken by SurveyMETER on services and infrastructures for the elderly population in the Indonesian municipality of Balikpapan. The infographic we have produced summarizes our findings.

Insights, experiences and lessons learned in development were shared by government, CSOs, donors, researchers and other development partners in a Workshop held in Jakarta. The workshop was also looking at how politics being one of the factor in development policy making.
