"Linking Research Agenda with Cultural Progress"
with
Hilmar Farid, Historian and Director General, Ministry of Education and Culture
Dave Lumenta, anthropologist and ALMI member
hosted by
Tita Larasati, Head of the Science and Society cluster, ALMI
Indonesia’s national research agenda is ideally used as the priority area to allocate government resources. Although Indonesia has formed its National Research Master Plan (RIRN), only one out of the ten focuses pays attention to “Social Humanities – Cultural Arts – Education”. As such, a direct link between social research and policy making that support cultural progress remains unclear.
A clear and effective relationship between social researchers and policy makers is required to ensure that cultural progress, based on evidence, is felt by even the poorest and most marginalised people. An exchange between academics and policy makers in regards to the use of evidence in cultural progress is facilitated by the Indonesian Young Academy of Sciences (ALMI). The discussion will align the vision and mission of key organisations in supporting the academia’s role in Indonesia’s cultural progress.
