Jakarta, July 11, 2018 - The Minister of National Development Planning, Bambang P.S Brodjonegoro, promised to follow-up the results of the Indonesia Development Forum 2018. Furthermore, he also encouraged innovators from different regions to keep coming up with new ideas and best practices from local wisdom to support development.
The two-day forum was attended by 235 speakers, 23 hosts, 1,642 participants that was organized by 253 committee and 177 organizers
“IDF 2018 winners are those who apply local wisdom to help their community. This is what needs to be done; they are more important than documents in Bappenas,” the Minister further explained in his closing remark in the IDF 2018, which was held under the title of “Pathways to Tackle Regional Disparities Across the Archipelago”, on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2018, in Jakarta.
Bambang said that IDF 2019 would raise the topic of unemployment reduction. The topic covers efforts to address unemployment, increase income, demographic bonus, vocational education, pension scheme, and youth participation. He hoped innovators could contribute ideas on the topic from now on.
During the closing ceremony, the Deputy Ambassador of Australia for Indonesia, Allaster Cox, expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the success of the event. He was also impressed by many local innovators, including regional chiefs who proved their commitment to advance their respective regions.
“Finally, follow-up and implementation of ideas are the best and most crucial things to do,” Cox concluded.
Indonesia Development Forum 2018 is held by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) with the support of the Government of Australia through Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI). IDF 2018 promotes more equal and sustainable development acceleration in Indonesia that is based upon science, relevant experiences, and facts. The results will be used as a reference to develop the Mid-Term Development Plan of 2020-2024.**
