Chairil Abdini, Secretary General of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) spoke about the endowment fund and the ideal solution for research funding in Indonesia. "A nation that masters science and technology is a developed nation," Chairil said. He then explained the story of four countries, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The four countries were under Japanese occupation during the second world war but the fate of the four countries' per capita income was different. "Korea and Taiwan are investing in science, so that it helps accelerate economic growth," Chairil added.
