August is always a special month for Indonesia where we celebrate the nation’s independence, and this August was particularly special for Indonesia’s knowledge sector. Under BAPPENAS leadership, KSI supported the successful implementation of the inaugural Indonesia Development Forum (IDF2017) on 9 – 10 August 2017. Developed as a knowledge to policy platform, the event was supported by a broad range of development partners with both national and international speakers providing inputs on the topic of “Addressing Inequality for Better Growth”. IDF will now be an official annual event as part of the development planning cycle, and it will be exciting to see how the forum continues to progress as a venue to inspire, imagine and innovate development stakeholders. Much of this month’s updates cover IDF2017, and we look forward to your inputs on how the forum can continue to be improved.
Importantly, addressing inequality means continued efforts to address challenges faced by citizens with disabilities, including on relevant policies and regulations. To support these efforts, in August KSI hosted the development partner disability coordination meeting, and this was also useful to share perspectives on integrating disability dimensions in the Indonesian knowledge sector.
Salam KSI!
