Research as a Strategy to Fulfill the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

(Only in Bahasa Indonesia)

One of the efforts to support the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities, which has become a commitment of the Indonesian government, is mainstreaming disability perspectives in the development of research and technology. The momentum to mainstream disability perspectives in strengthening knowledge is provided by the stipulation of the Law on the National System of Science and Technology and a number of other policies.

This policy brief recommends a number of measures that can be undertaken to help research become the main strategy to fulfill the rights of persons with disabilities, which has been guaranteed by Law Number 8 Year 2016 on Persons with Disabilities. Research provides room for persons with disabilities to participate, because the voices, discriminatory experiences, and forfeiture of the rights of persons with disabilities can be curated, analysed, and be used as the basis to find solutions in the form of policies.
