The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education’s 2018 Grant Guidelines for Research and Community Outreach will for the first time include an explicit focus on gender and social inclusion.
To close the gap between researchers and the private sector, the Company Community Partnership for Health in Indonesia (CCPHI) conducted several ‘Research and Business Forum’ discussions in November 22 and 29, 2017 at the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) office in Jakarta. This forum was attended by representatives of the private sector and policy-oriented research organisations.
In cooperation with Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI), the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) conducted a Policy Research Forum in Jakarta on 20 December 2017.
On 3-6 September, representatives from DFAT, KSI, Bappenas, KOMPAK, Program Peduli and MAMPU visited West Nusa Tenggara. The aim of the visit was to explore opportunities for greater collaboration between programs in DFAT’s Poverty and Social Development and Human Development portfolios.
Since 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Agency for Research and Policy Development (Badan Pengkajian dan Pengembangam Kebijakan, BPPK) has been partnering with the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) at the University of Göttingen, Germany to undertake research on the changing uses of tropical lowland rainforests in Indonesia. Researchers involved in the collaboration have produced 62 articles which have been published in academic journals.
KSI Knowledge Sharing Sessions on Gender Equity in Research and Higher Education, conducted in Jakarta and Yogyakarta, January 31-February 2, 2017, gave the opportunity to the resource persons and participants to map out general opportunities and barriers in integrating gender aspects in research and higher education. However, there remains the need to specifically examine gender aspects of human resources in higher education.
One of the highlights of the 2017 Indonesia Development Forum (IDF) was the ‘Ideas and Innovations Marketplace’.

On 4 August 2017, KSI hosted the regular Development Partner Disability Coordination Meeting on the theme “Integrating Disability Dimensions in the Indonesian Knowledge Sector”,attended by 64 participants from 36development partners, disabled people’sorganizations and research institutes.
As a collaborative platform, the Indonesia Development Forum (IDF) positioned Aliansi Riset Kebijakan Indonesia (ARK) as one of its strategic partners.
