The Australian Launch of the Australia- Indonesia Disability Research and Advocacy Network (AIDRAN)

La Trobe Law School is proud to host the Australia-Indonesia Disability Research and Advocacy Network (AIDRAN). AIDRAN is a collaborative network which aims to bring together various stakeholders in the disability research and social inclusion field. It will provide opportunities for engagement and collaboration between academics, civil society organisations and policymakers. The network is the result of several years of international collaboration, responding to the emerging demand for evidence-based knowledge, research and publication skills, policy reform and, collaborative practice in the Indonesian disability and education sector.

AIDRAN is supported by Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI), a joint program between the governments of Indonesia and Australia

AIDRAN objectives are:

  • To provide an open marketplace of information for academics and activists in Indonesia and Australia to engage in interdisciplinary research and policy advocacy on disability inclusion;
  • To have people with disabilities to play a central role in shaping policy debate and decisions by fostering interpersonal relations and organisational linkages across a wide array of actors; and,
  • To educate and raise awareness of the challenges and achievements in the realisation of the rights of people with disabilities through public discussions about best practice.
  • AIDRAN believe there is enormous potential for positive collaboration between our two nations in this important area of social inclusion.
