Building a Better Ecosystem for Research and Innovation: The Role of Scientific Communities and Associations

Registration: bit.ly/ClosingIRSA (Open to the Public)

In building a knowledge-based economy country, a better research and innovation ecosystem is urgently needed. Such an ecosystem defines how a set of knowledge (including research) is created, distributed and adapted, with a particular emphasis on the human and technological agents that create, store, access, communicate and apply knowledge. Based on those processes, scientific communities and associations are perceived as knowledge producers who could provide knowledge to policymakers and extensively reference how the ecosystem could be built. They could offer evidence-based recommendations to craft the policy building blocks of the research and innovation ecosystem, thus enabling comprehensive public policies based on evidence from research results.

In this session, we will explore and reflect on Indonesian practices and international experiences of how the roles of scientific communities and associations could actively shape a better ecosystem for research and innovation.
