In early August 2015, the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) and the local knowledge grant's partner began documenting their collaborative process. This grants scheme is designed to explore and promote local knowledge in the process of policy making. As one of the ten grantees, Poros Photos documents social values surrounding the tradition of whaling in Lamalera, East Nusa Tenggara. Through this learning process, Poros Photos emphasis the social and economic value of whale, as well as the division of roles and responsibilities between women and men in whaling, and the implications of tourism on community traditions. The expected results through these activities is to establish early awareness of how policies affect tourism at improving the welfare of traditional fishermen community in the concept of tourism development in Lamalera, East Nusa Tenggara.
